What is a shift pattern calendar?
A shift pattern is the repeating order of your working and rest days. A shift pattern calendar lays that pattern over real dates, so you can see what you are working on any day, weeks or months ahead, instead of counting through the cycle by hand.
Common patterns
- Same days every week, such as Monday to Friday. Use the weekly option in the planner.
- 4 on 4 off, an eight-day rotating cycle.
- 2-2-3, a 14-day cycle that stays aligned with the week.
- Two days, two nights, four off, an eight-day cycle with a mix of shift types.
- Your own rotation of any length, such as earlies, lates, nights and rest days.
What the Dayzuntil shift planner does
- Builds a rotating cycle or a weekly pattern and shows it on a monthly calendar, carrying across the end of the year.
- Lets you rename, recolour and remove shift types, and add optional start and finish times.
- Adds extra dates, for example overtime or a swapped shift, on top of your pattern.
- Overlays a partner's working days or a school or nursery week to flag days that may need cover.
- Hides the settings panels once you are done, for a clear view of the calendar.

Frequently asked questions
Is the shift planner free?
Yes. It is free to use and needs no sign-up or account.
Where is my shift pattern saved?
In your own browser on the device you use. Nothing is sent to a server, so clearing your browser data removes it and it does not follow you to another device.
Can I plan a whole team's rota with it?
It is designed for one person's pattern, plus overlays such as a partner or a school week. It is not a team rota or staff scheduling tool.
